Shy Georgie Plunkett of St. Clair County, Missouri, has a crush on Chloey Carew—but
just how could he possibly compete with brash, outgoing, egotistical Harry Markesan for
her attentions? Eenie meenie, time machine-ie.
Not entirely true. Georgie had traveled, two-three times to Kansas
City. Hadn’t liked it much: fair enough. It hadn’t liked him, either. Been to Joplin
a couple times to visit a sister; to Fort Scott once, to have a special piece of metal
crafted for his time machine. That was it.
