In this pilot episode, menial worker Dave Lister on the spaceship Red Dwarf
finds himself three million years in the future after accidentally overstaying his time
in a stasis room where time does not exist. In contrast to a long sleep or cryogenics, traveling via stasis is actual time travel.

The stasis room creates a static field of time. Just as x-rays can’t pass through lead,
time cannot penetrate a stasis field. So although you exist, you no longer exist in time,
and for you, time itself does not exist.
