Release—after an intense discussion up in the ITTDB Citadel that wandered into Cold War politics, we finally jumped into our time machine to see whether we could find any actual US release in June of 1973, as listed at the <a href='https%3A%2F%2Fwww.imdb.com%2Ftitle%2Ftt0070233%2Freleaseinfo%3Fref_%3Dtt_ov_inf'>IMDb</a>. But nobody had heard of it on the Western Front, so we’re going with the 17 September 1973 release in the Soviet Union, where more than 60 million tickets were sold and everyone was talking about Ivan.
