- Release—The IMDb lists the earliest release as being in London on 23 July 1936, but does not indicate whether this was a theatrical release or some kind of formal premiere. However, based Korda: Britain’s MOvie Mogul, page 144, it seems that the late July release was the theatrical release (a “month” after a 4 July preview) that fared “extremely poorly at the box office” and caused Wells to dispair that he was “more than a little disappointed with films.”
