Philip E. High was a prolific author, although not well known in the states. This story,
first published when he was 89, tells the tale of the miraculous Mottram’s organ, which
unexpectedly sends Alan Stapleton to the past (or is it the future?) on an obscure fragment
of matter called Earth—and he may find himself in several other locations before he finds
his way home.
I deduce that this device was locked on the past—who’s past, yours or ours? Time is
relative, our future could be in your past or vice versa.
