Whenever an effect of an action occurs before that action itself (i.e., an endochronic
property), I consider it to be time travel, with the canonical example being Asimov’s
Thiotimoline research first published in 1948. According to McLaughlin, Asimov continued that
research, using the profits to establish a foundation that funds further research into such
phenomena.
